Danone North America is looking for a VP, Marketing (Yogurt) in White Plains.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic marketer, embracing and leading the transformation that Food and Beverage companies are going through with strong brand management skills, clear commercial acumen and strong general management savvy. This person will have a strong blend of strategic vision, operational marketing / commercial experience and innovation. S/he will have a track record of successful portfolio management, strong financial acumen / P&L savvy, and strong brand management fundamentals. S/he will also have learned and grown from a wide range of both successes and failures, as they will have the courage to go after bold goals as well as embracing the changing environment in CPG and Food & beverage industry. This role has a triple responsibility: P&L, Brand Equity and Innovation.

 

This person will have drive, high energy and a strong bias for action.  S/he will pair an aggressive growth mindset with a collaborative, influence-driven work style. They will be a quick study who has an extraordinary ability to handle ambiguity and a creative approach to problem solving.  S/he will lead by example and will have a reputation for driving positive change.  Further, they will be a team player and team builder and excel at partnering and influencing decision making at all levels of the organization. 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

General Management: Own the Strategy, Drive the P&L, Build the Team

  • Co-lead vision and strategy for the yogurt business and deliver strategy, targets and growth aspirations. Including overall brand portfolio, innovation, customer and consumer & shopper strategy.  Set clear goals and objectives, including annual cross-functional operating plans (working with functional leaders) and direct oversight of go-to-market operations (marketing mix & related spend, brand targets & plans, integrated go-to-market (marketing, sales, supply chain).
  • Manage Brand P&L to deliver solid and sustainable business growth, and balance sheet / cash flow to deliver healthy business fundamentals; ensure cross-functional alignment to strategic objectives and that plans are in place to deliver on those objectives
  • Develop Leadership & Collaborative Culture: Build and lead an engaged, high performing team with bench strength for succession planning; Mentor and coach direct reports to build skills. Inspire the senior management team (global/local), cross-functional team members and agency partners to develop a collaborative and creative working culture and empowering workplace

 

Modern Marketing: Boldly Build and Steward the Portfolio of Brands

  • Drive Bold, Innovative Marketing: Build and foster an environment of bold marketing and brand building excellence, building upon Danone’s leadership position with a focus on assortment and new product development
  • Develop a healthy and growth-oriented Portfolio of Brands, balancing established category leaders and a steady pipeline of innovative brands and concepts to drive overall portfolio energy and vitality; defining and maintaining the overall brand vision and strategic growth initiatives for the category
  • Provide overall ownership of the Annual Brand Planning process (working with the global team on Global Brands), and Integrated Go-to-Market across all commercial functions
  • Creatively leverage trade, consumer and shopper marketing dollars to maximize brand growth and RoI:  Continuously assess the landscape, understand consumer needs, drive brand equity, and design integrated marketing programs which surprise and delight consumers and accelerate growth.
  • Balance digital and traditional channels to drive brand awareness, consideration, trial and affinity/allegiance

 

 

Preferred Candidate Qualifications:

 

Education and Experience:

  • 4 year business degree; MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience within CPG industry
  • Prior experience accelerating growth within a stagnant category with a high level of competition and complexity
  • 5+ years general management / P&L ownership experience (can be concurrent with marketing leadership)
  • Direct experience working in a highly matrixed, global company and capability to influence stake holders at all levels.
  • Ability to make strategic choices about how to manage the brand portfolio and allocate resources
  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence others
  • Strong team leadership and people management skills
  • Ability to influence at the highest levels, whether that be C-Suite, Board of Directors, in Top-to-Top Customer Meetings, etc.
