Associate Manager, Category Strategy & Insights

Conduct data-driven analysis and provide retailer-specific strategic growth plan to drive category sales with customers. Derive insights from category analyses that support Category Management Team and sales team in developing profitable and successful category and customer plans. Manage, analyze, and develop fact-based reporting tools to deliver concise category management recommendations and identify opportunities for category growth across Danone's businesses.


Key responsibilities
• Perform analyses and use data to drive category insights that help shape the category vision
o Interpret market research and customer-based shopper insights to understand levers driving category growth at the customer(s)
o Perform competitive analysis by category to identify trends, opportunities and challenges to core business areas
o Collect and analyze demographic data to develop consumer profiles for our retail partners
o Perform category and channel analysis for customer(s) to drive continued, sustainable company and category growth
o Discover category trends, fair-share opportunity gaps, share of wallet and leakage opportunities, then align with our retailer partners on strategic initiatives
O Use and interpret internal shipment data, consumption data (syndicated, strategic planner, & panel), Customer portal data (consumption & consumer), and other industry sources to identify opportunities
O Create reports to include monthly region, market, and customer trend reporting, distribution grids, new product tracking, velocity reports, planogram development, and pricing & promotion analysis
O Assess customer performance in the market to find opportunities and shape category focus
O Establish strong knowledge of the customer/category and the Danone product line to assist in strategic business calls
• Lead planogram development process and adjacency analysis
o Help drive customer overall category strategy at the shelf through creation of shelf in accordance with company recommended segmentation and flow
o Build iterations of customer-specific category planograms as aligned with customer and Category Manager
o Assist in requests by senior management for presentations to support strategy, drive sales and execution of category vision
• Serve as an active member of the customer Category Management team
o Ensure that customers are using the newest/best class category management insights
o Provide sales personnel with the data necessary to optimize shelving and assortment initiatives with our retail partners
o Help team gain category captainship/advisory positions
• Provide best-practice insights back to Center of Excellence
o Contribute to a category Center of Excellence - using shopper insights and research to create category stories to influence customers to act across Danone's businesses and communicate insights with center
o Share success stories as well as opportunities with Center of Excellence

• 4-year college degree in Business or related field
• 2-4 years previous experience in Category Management or within CPG industry
• Solid understanding of Category Management principles, KPIs and strategies and how do adapt them across Channels and Customers
• Proven ability in analyzing data from a variety of sources and being able to identify patterns/trends in the data to form conclusions and recommendations
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically to create ideas and solutions to business opportunities and challenges
• Demonstrated ability in developing winning strategic plans by employing analytics, critical thinking and solid arguments to influence Retailers on Category initiatives
• Familiarity with the 4 C's and how to leverage them (Category, Consumer, Customer & Company) and 4 P's (Product, Price, Place and Promotion)
• Demonstrated ability in taking insights and turning them into solid arguments to drive business success and Retail execution in Assortment, Merchandising, Pricing and Shelving
• Experience working with syndicated data such as IRI or Nielsen preferred
• Proficiency in shopper/panel data and space management tools a plus
• Occasional travel
