Danone North America is looking for a Quality Control Laboratory Technician in our West Jordan, Utah manufacturing facility to work the weekend nights shift (Friday-Monday).

General Summary:

As a Quality Lab Tech, you will ensure all raw ingredients, finished product and in-process samples meet specifications by performing various tests according to SOP's and standardized methods, analyzing and recording results, communicating deficiencies, and maintaining safety, environmental, quality and sanitation standards.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performing bench-top analysis of critical quality parameters in accordance with SOP's and control plan. Record data to assure that in-process samples and finished goods are in compliance to specifications.
  • Conducting microbiological testing of in-process samples and finished goods in accordance with SOP's and control plan and report results.
  • Holding finished product when results fall outside of acceptable range, investigate root cause and propose solutions. Assist in disposition of hold products through retest and /or providing sorting instructions to supply chain.
  • Analyzing data statistically looking for trends, common and special cause variation.
  • Perform required environmental tests of Primary & Secondary Fluids as well as Air Quality.
  • Perform audits on equipment, materials, products and procedures to assure that the lab is in compliance based on CQA (Corporate Quality Assurance) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) procedures.
  • Maintain the laboratory in a clean, safe and orderly manner on a daily basis.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in all areas of the plant.
  • Inspect machines prior to and after Interventions.
  • Maintain a sanitary and well stocked area.

 

Preferred Candidate Qualifications

  • Minimum: Associates Degree in Science and minimum 2 years lab experience
  • Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Science
  • At least 1 year experience in a food-processing environment preferred.
  • Basic understanding of warehouse management systems.
  • Ability to read and write fluid English. Possess good oral and written communication skills; and ability to analyze technical data to form conclusions / make recommendations
  • Requires good sensory skills.
  • Possess ability to perform microbiological, physical and analytical testing.
  • Established self management skills. Must bring interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills required to interact with various levels of plant personnel work with minimal supervision and with varying degrees of ambiguity.
  • Sharp and tenacious troubleshooting and decision making skills— the ability to rapidly assess, analyze, and resolve complicated problems with little initial information or direction and with varying degrees of ambiguity.
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite. Basic math skills.
  • Dependable, a team-player, and demonstrate initiative and positive attitude.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and possess ability to multi-task and shift priorities quickly, while maintaining control, focus and professionalism in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • The willingness to work flexible schedules as needed. Work schedules could include nights, weekend or holiday shifts.
  • Ability to perform physical demands of:
    • A fast paced environment
    • 8, 10 or 12 hour shifts
    • Continuous walking.
  • Minimal to moderate lifting
  • Open shift is weekend nights (Friday-Monday)
