About the Role

Nutricia Research is part of Danone. Our products are marketed under the brand names Nutrilon, Aptamil, Bebelac, Dumex and Bebilon, amongst others. Capitalising on our numerous international preclinical and clinical partnerships, we aim to identify new nutritional intervention opportunities and develop creative products. We craft infant formulas and nutritional products that provide clinically substantiated health benefits to vulnerable patient populations. For the Precision Nutrition D-Lab Singapore (Danone Nutricia Research), we are looking for a Senior Project Leader Microbiome Laboratory with an ambitious mindset. You will manage the set-up and operational perfection of the Microbiome Laboratory targeting the human microbiome within the Precision Nutrition D-Lab in Singapore. As Senior Project Leader Microbiome Laboratory, you will work closely together with a highly motivated laboratory team, and be an essential member of a cross-functional research and innovation team. In this role you will report to the Senior Team Leader of the Science Team.


About the Job

  • Establish, maintain and expand relationships with external microbiome analysis experts and research groups
  • Prepare and present strategy and project updates in internal and external meetings
  • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to effectively apply experience, judgment, and creativity to both short- and long-term challenges
  • Learns fast, grasps the essence of our innovative ideas and can translate these into credible, scientific research, changing course when necessary
  • Mapping out project timelines, allocating the appropriate resource, keeping all parties on track


About You

  • PhD in microbiology, life sciences, or related scientific fields
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in a microbiome or genomics centric laboratory environment, successfully leading multi-disciplinary teams
  • Extensive experience in laboratory management and broad understanding of genome sequencing technologies, including 16S ribosomal ribonucleic acid (rRNA) library preparation and sequencing of clinical trial samples
  • Knowledge of other genomic fields like transcriptomics, functional genomics and metagenomics
  • Experience with data management and computational biology pipelines in assessing microbial gut communities
  • Experience in management of complex projects with various partners of different hierarchical levels, qualifications, and cultural backgrounds
  • Able to manage conflicting priorities, and to be flexible when priorities change
  • Excellent communication, presentation and networking skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • A passion for microbiome science and the benefit of nutrition throughout life
  • Builds strong relationships with peers and cross-functionally with partners inside and outside of teams to enable higher performance
  • Creates a learning environment and desires to mentor others in strengthening their skills and abilities
  • Has relevant professional (inter)national networks and collaborations e.g. universities, research facilities, consortia, alliances
  • Established expertise in the experimental and analytical study of gut microbiomes
  • Raises the bar and challenges the status quo
