Danone North America is looking for a Refrigeration Technician in San Juan Bautista.


POSITION SUMMARY:      

 

 


The Refrigeration Technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs ammonia refrigeration systems as well as assist construction personnel in pump down and dismantling of existing systems. This position is responsible for responding to emergency calls regarding refrigeration, operating and performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on refrigeration systems, as well as assist with installations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Operates refrigeration systems: Reads gauges and instruments and adjust mechanisms to control level of fluid, pressure and temperature in system. Documents changes in inspection logs.
•Attends regular training to maintain and improve job skills.
•Performs routine inspections and preventive maintenance on refrigeration systems, vacuum cooling system, compressors, valves, pumps and various other mechanical devices.
•Completes all required paperwork including but not limited to refrigeration management change forms, daily inspection and PM logs, emergency repair reports and ammonia leak incident details.
•Diagnoses problems and/or failures in refrigeration systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and replacement needs.
•Responds to emergency calls regarding refrigeration on production floor.
•Dismantles malfunctioning system and test components using electrical mechanical and pneumatic testing equipment.
•Always performs tasks in accordance with the Company's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Safety & Health policies and Food Safety Regulations.
•Assists with the installation of refrigeration equipment and systems.
•Provides back up technical support for compressed air systems, nitrogen systems and generator equipment.
•Assists the building and equipment maintenance teams with general building repairs, electrical troubleshooting and repairs, and other general maintenance activities.
•Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
•Associate Degree in Industrial, Refrigeration/Electrical, Trade School Certification, or Equivalent.  Refrigeration Engineers and technicians association, certification CARO, CIRO, CRES preferred and or 3 years minimum experience in industrial high speed manufacturing maintenance, preferably in food industry including mechanical experience in ammonia refrigeration.
•Ability to operate & repair ammonia system components, ammonia system electrical controls and computerized refrigeration monitoring/control programs. Knowledge of hydraulics helpful.
•Intermediate computer skills including; MS Office, Outlook, etc. Knowledge of RS View helpful but not required. Knowledge of Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs) strongly preferred.
•Thorough understanding of Risk Management Practices (RMP) and Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements.
•Ability to read and follow blueprints, drawings, schematics and ladder diagrams.
•Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
•Must have working knowledge of basic protective equipment requirements, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, Fall Protection, OSHA, FDA, and GMP as they apply to maintenance personnel.
•Must be able to speak, read and write in the English language; Bilingual/Bi-literate English and Spanish skills preferred.
•Capability and willingness to work a flexible schedule including off-shifts, weekends, nights and holidays as needed.
•Must be able to qualify for forklift & scissor lift driver’s license.
•Ability to perform general physical activities that require considerable use of arms/legs and moving whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping.
