Danone North America is looking for a Production Manager in San Juan Bautista.

Plan, direct, and coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing Earthbound Farm products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.

Essential Functions

  • Monitor and evaluate all Production Department operations, programs, processes and/or practices for quality and effectiveness; make recommendations for improvement.
  • Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
  • Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
  • Develop and implement plant peformance tracking or systems, analyzing efficiency, yield, waste, down time and labor cost.
  • Full shift responsibility for over 250 production staff including determining work load, delegating assignments, training, monitoring, evaluating performance and coaching. Additional sample tasks include:
    • Hire, train, evaluate, or discharge staff or resolve personnel grievances.

 

 

  • Ensure a cohesive, efficient, hostile-free work environment Lead daily Operations Staff meeting.
  • Lead weekly tailgate meetings with employees
  • Lead bi-weekly meetings with Supervisors
  • Lead bi-weekly meetings with Operators.
  • Develop budgets or approve expenditures for supplies, materials, or human resources, ensuring that materials, labor, or equipment are used efficiently to meet production targets.
  • Coordinate or recommend procedures for facility or equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines.
  • Participate in all required training sessions.
  • Follow all Company food safety protocols without fail.
  • Always perform tasks in a manner that protects and promotes food safety.
  • Cooperate with managers and other leaders to ensure all Company legal and ethical requirements are met.
  • Comply with all company rules and regulations, Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices as outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, Section 110.
  • Perform other duties as required by Manager.


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Mathematics Knowledge - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Administration and Management Knowledge - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Training - Ability to develop a particular skill in others to bring them up to a predetermined standard of work performance.
  • Customer and Personal Service Knowledge - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Design - Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Coordination Skills - Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions.
  • Critical Thinking Skills - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or university) Preferred
 

Experience: Four to ten years related experience in Manufacturing

Computer Skills: Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, copmuter-based Warehouse Management Systemsand and Materials Requirement Planning Systems.

 

Certificates & Licenses: APICS certification a plus.  Knowledge of BRC or SQF protocols

 

Other Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Food Safety regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices and USDA/FDA guidelines as they related to food manufacturing.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish language skills including the ability to read, write and speak both languages fluently.
  • Must be flexible with schedule and have the ability to work PM, weekend and overtime as required.
  • Willingness and ability to work in a refrigerated manufacturing environment with extremely cold temperatures, wet conditions and continuous exposure to noice levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
