Danone North America is looking for a Research Scientist II in San Juan Bautisa.


We are seeking a dynamic, innovative, self-motivated, and service-orientated professional for the position of Research Scientist, at the associate or principal level, to work in our Research, Development and Innovation team. The position is part of an ambitious research program that generates knowledge to support Earthbound Farm innovation and quality teams.


  • Majority of the responsibilities will be to establish, implement and manage scientific experiments as it relates to post harvest quality, shelf life understanding and extension.
  • This position will work closely with the internal farming team on front end research activities.
  • Develop and coordinate a network of research platforms for post-harvest research to address research gaps and inform recommendations.
  • Promote partnerships, facilitate dialogue and collaborative work with multiple stakeholders, including research institutes and private sector partners to develop and promote adequate post-harvest solutions and related public policies.
  • Scope research on post-harvest and food loss prevention, identifying best practices that can be relevant to the work of RD&I.
  • Provide methodological support and quality control for on-farm or in factory validation of postharvest technologies.

Required academic qualifications, skills and attitudes:

  • MS in a relevant science based field, or equivalent through experience.
  • Must have a working knowledge of experimental design, statistical analysis and data collection methodologies and a broad knowledge of agronomic and food science practices.
  • Significant and demonstrated experience in postharvest research and stakeholder management.
  • Preferably a record of high quality scientific publications.
  • Computer literacy, with proficiency in the common software packages.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and preferably Spanish.
  • Ability to integrate and synthesize information from different sources.

  • Generally, a business casual office environment. May have some exposure to a cold and wet manufacturing environment (34-36 degrees F), the smell of chlorine, outdoor weather conditions, heavy machinery, forklift traffic and loud noises.
