GS Communication Director - WBU Waters

DANONE SA is searching for a GS Communication Director - WBU Waters in based in Paris.



We live in a fast-evolving business and consumer environment where communications happen 24/7 by media, stakeholder groups and consumers alike, and where social digital platforms have erased borders. FMCG companies increasingly live in the public eye and strong, transparent corporate communication has become a competitive advantage.

The Communications Director will report to the VP, General Secretary, Waters, Africa & and General Counsel Company Partnerships with a mandate to:

a) improve the reputation and make Danone Waters better known to its key stakeholders including investors, NGOs, influencers and consumers, to keep ensuring support for our businesses license to operate and grow;
b) maximize impact and reach of communications initiatives, supporting our business and brands,
c) ensure strong consistency of content and messages across the scope.


His/her main responsibilities will be to:
• Develop the internal and external communications strategy for the Danone Waters global division and manage global communications projects, in alignment with the Global external communications team, with a focus on public affairs priorities and nutrition.
• Develop and implement the yearly communications plan.
• Analyze weak-signals, identify issues and opportunities to leverage communications as a support to license to operate / business growth strategies.
• In alignment with the global external corporate comms team: proactively develop story-angles and news hooks to generate media coverage on Waters category and key international brands.
 - responsible for press releases, seek internal alignment on the right messages and send out towards key media + formulate and respond to follow up questions
 - manage the relationship with media stakeholders with a focus on nutrition
 - organize press conferences, production sites visits, etc. for Waters category projects
 - develop relevant social media planning and activation plans.
• Develop communications narrative on the complementarity of combined portfolio of Aquadrinks and waters categories for hydration.
• Liaise and align with local senior management and communications teams within international Waters businesses to manage applicable issues, in alignment with global external corporate comms team.



Education >>
- Master degree - preferably in Communication, Languages, Journalism or Marketing OR Similar experience
- Solid business acumen through education and/or experience

Experience >>
- 10 years in communications roles (PR, internal and external, preferably within FMCG)
- Managing projects including communications and public affairs issues
- Experience in organizing events

Technical competencies: (Job related) >>
- Strong communicator and creative mindset. Ability to think out of the box
- Excellent writer
- Fluent English and French (written and spoken).
- Excellent knowledge of the French and international media environment
- Good knowledge of the French and international institutional & political environment
- Some legal knowledge with a focus on nutrition is a nice to have
- Good analytical skills
- A real team player with an outgoing nature and a good networker
- Reliable and able to manage confidential information.
