Communication Manager - The Danone Ecosystem Fund (H/F)




Danone has long been defined by its dual economic and social project. In 1972, Antoine Riboud said that, “the frontiers of the company do not stop at the factory gate.” 


In 2009, when the financial crisis hit the global economy, Franck Riboud, announced that it was time for Danone to make a major investment in its local ‘ecosystems.’ In response, the shareholders agreed to invest 100 M€ to create a fund of General Interest: the Danone Ecosystem Fund. The purpose? co-creates inclusive business solutions that answer local challenges through the professional empowerment of vulnerable stakeholders in Danone’s value chain. The Fund is looking for a social, environmental and health impact on the local communities.


As part of the Danone Goal number 8 to foster Inclusive Growth, the Danone Ecosystem Fund implement projects that answer to social, environmental and public health issues in different part of the world (85 projects in 29 countries). The projects are co-created between three parties, an NGO, a Danone subsidiary and the Danone Ecosystem Fund.


A team of about 10 people is working to implement and scale the models and to the optimize the impact on the beneficiaries and communities (4.4 million beneficiaries as of today). The team as also a key role to codesign and coordinate the projects, measure the impact, build the learning and leverage crossfertilization among projects and pass on this learning to the stakeholder, among them the the Danone business that will be able to scale and replicate the inclusive business models created and include them in the way they operate the business.


With its level of maturity and track record of 10  years  (2019 being the 10th anniversary of the Fund), positive communication, sharing impact, successes and knowledge of the Fund and accelerating the connection between the projects and brands are key priorities for the Fund.





This assignment is a temporary mission (CDD) until the end of Q1 2020. Paris (Bd Haussmann).

Reporting directly to the operational Director of the Danone Ecosystem Fund, your mission will include:

Engagement mission:

  • Developing and implementing strategies to increase internal and external awareness of the Danone Ecosystem Fund.
  • Supporting corporate teams to promote Fund and Danone’s Goodwill by sharing latest news of the projects and help them in the creation of publication such as the integrated report.
  • Managing content creation, including working with external agencies and internal stakeholders to prepare articles, posts and visual assets for Danone’s social media channels and Danone Ecosystem Fund website.
  • Supporting public outreach by identifying and/or evaluating relevant engagement opportunities/events
  • Supporting the animation of the different communities (Caring Services, Recycling, Sustainable sourcing)
  • Supporting project managers for local communication
  • Preparing meetings and talking points for top management
  • Organizing the 10th anniversary event of the Fund


Brand connection mission:

  • Build a strategy on how the Ecosysteme Fund impact can nourish the brand purpose and be proof point activated in the brands :
    • Identify the quick wins matching current projects with brands and building the connection to create value for the brands.
    • Identify with marketing teams a pilot project to be launch for which the social/environmental/health impact on the community can nourish a brand purpose and be activated in the design of the project.
    • Build guideline and recommendation to include the brand connection objective in Funds operating models and ways of working in the future.





  • 5 to 10 year experience in marketing and communication
  • Educational background in communications, and marketing - sustainability is a plus
  • A real passion for social, environmental and public health issues
  • Creative and positive, doer and result oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority
  • Ability to work with a high level of autonomy and to deliver on various projects and deadlines
  • Team player comfortable working within a complex fast-moving environment
  • Skills in project management and coordination
  • Excellent writing skills and must be fluent in English and French
