Danone North America is looking for a Utilities Maintenance Supervisor - City of Industry in City of Industry, CA.

Position Description:

 

Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager the Utilities Reliability Leader will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, systems repair, and maintenance support of the City of Industry Utilities Team. Equipment within their control includes ammonia and glycol refrigeration, steam boilers, air compressors, electrical distribution, sewer system, cooling towers, water treatment, HVAC, and facilities. The Utilities Reliability Leader is directly responsible for progressive maintenance pillar activities and leadership of mechanics supporting their business unit team. The Utilities Reliability Leader should act as a servant leader and empower mechanics and line team associates to higher levels of performance and greater morale. This role requires a dual tactical and strategic focus. This role requires 60% to 80% floor leadership time. The Utilities Reliability Leader will daily coach and improve mechanic skills and behaviors to drive performance and compliance to plant programs, processes, and policies. Utilities Reliability Leader is responsible for daily tactical execution of daily priorities, coordination of mechanics, execution and follow up of planed work. In addition, the Utilities Reliability Leader is responsible for supporting and developing planned maintenance strategies that support safety, people engagement, quality, cost, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Utilities Reliability Leader will continuously improve their performance and the performance of their team by reviewing and making changes based on feedback, KPI and Health Check data. This position may be fixed on day shift or support off shifts; independent of shift schedule, this position is responsible to coach and develop utilities leads / teams on every shift within their area/lines. 

 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Works with the Maintenance Manager to implement systems, projects, programs, and staffing aimed at achieving departmental mission and long-term objectives.
  • Owns Breakdown Elimination, Defect Handling, & Planning and Scheduling. Coaches teams through effective execution of these processes and builds capability and ownership of these systems down to the team level over time.     
  • Create daily assignments for mechanics on each shift the support planned maintenance and loss elimination initiatives.  Focuses on engaging mechanics in proactive work that will improve line predictability/stability. 
  • Support off shift critical work and emergency repairs where required 
  • Monitor metrics, develop plans, and propose solutions for improvement
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process, support cost goals, and identify productivity opportunities
  • Support Planned Maintenance Pillar, System and Tools implementation
  • Support Systems and Equipment Ownership capability development
  • Lead and Support Early Equipment Management Activities, including possible startup leadership for projects within their area
  • Ensure all equipment/machinery is entered into CMMS
  • Create and maintain machine bill of materials
  • Provide weekly/monthly work order cost analysis report to Maintenance Manager
  • Develop, implement and execute Predictive/Preventive maintenance procedures and plans
  • Monitor equipment performance, investigate asset failures, analyze data, and develop and execute action plans to improve asset reliability
  • Analyze, identify, recommend, and implement solutions for reducing utilities downtime, and non-value-added activities
  • Lead and facilitate RCA/BDE Root Causes Analysis/ Break Down Elimination, and assist in the development of the capitol plan for cost reduction-related projects to support business objectives
  • Ensures that environmental systems are operating within permit guidelines and insures that audits of these systems are performed to insure operation.

 

Preferred Candidate Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree from 4 - year college or University
  • SMRP Certification
  • Experience working with a CMMS system like SAP, Maximo, MVP

 

Education and Experience:

  • 7-10 years of progressive work experience in a utility focused role responsible for ammonia refrigeration, steam boiler, and air compressor operations and maintenance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferred
  • 3 – 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education that would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability required is acceptable
  • Experienced in supervising support personnel

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understand TPM and continuous improvement methods
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures
  • Availability to be on call nights and/or weekends as required
  • Working knowledge of screw compressors, electrical troubleshooting all common types of ammonia central systems, & control/alarm systems, water tube and fire tube boilers, and compressed air systems
  • HAZ-MAT training
  • RETA 1&2 certification a plus
  • Process Safety Management training

 

 

Physical Demands:

 

  • Occasionally required to lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
