The Plant Quality Assurance Associate Manager supports the implementation of Cedar Knolls Operations GMP standards as well as working with the Food Safety & Quality Improvement Associate Manager in continuing, improving and animating our quality and food safety standards. This position will be responsible for developing, reviewing and following-up on supplier monitoring programs, performing routine QA checks and audits in our manufacturing site, and helping develop quality and food safety manuals and required trainings. The role will develop the Cedar Knolls Frequency Based Sanitation Program (Master Sanitation Schedule - MSS) to meet the microbiological standards aligned with the Specialized Nutrition Global Food Quality Standards. The Plant Quality Assurance Associate Manager identifies, plans, aligns and implements corrective actions in response to deviations in sanitation, food safety and quality.

 

Plant Sanitation
a. Lead, animate and continuously improve all Plant-wide Sanitation Systems including the Frequency Based Cleaning and Sanitizing (MSS).
b. Ensure Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) are kept current and effective based upon communicated Specialized Nutrition standards/audits, inspections, ATP swabbing and Environmental Monitoring Program test results.
c. Develop and continuously improve the Master Sanitation Frequency Based Cleaning Schedule and resource the requirements effectively.
d. Develop and implement training for all production personnel engaged in sanitizing equipment and production spaces. Determine frequency of ongoing training required to deliver continuous improvement.
e. Define and continuously review 3rd Party cleaning activities that are required to keep the MSS current.
f. Control, replenish and source inventories of all cleaning, sanitizing chemicals and equipment.
g. Manage sanitation and pest control programs.


Supplier Monitoring
a. Work with Food Safety & Quality Improvement Lead by monitoring raw, pack and service suppliers to ensure they consistently meet local regulation (FDA) as well as Nutricia quality compliance standards (Danone PRP, FSSC22000).
b. Establish 3P testing for finished products environmental tests alongwith ingredient and packaging testing.
c. Document and track Key Performance Indicators ("KPIs") such as testing turn-around times, and first time right and report trends to Food Safety & Quality Improvement Lead.
d. Review incoming raw material and pack Certificate of Analysis ("CofAs") for receipt approval.
e. Manage external laboratory testing including sample request forms, PO's and invoicing.
f. Perform audits of Cedar Knolls Nutricia supply chain partner sites according to Danone PRP requirements.


 Routine QA Checks and Internal Site Audits
a. Perform periodic checks and audits of the Cedar Knolls plant quality and sanitation monitoring programs.
b. Audit 3P vendor activities to ensure compliance (pest control, sanitation vendors, contractors, labs). Define and follow-up with corrective actions.
c. Animate with the Food Quality Lead quality and food safety plans based on actions identified from Nutricia audits.
d. Perform GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) on-site audits and follow-up on corrective actions.
e. Ensure all lots of production are properly tested according to agreed release criteria.
f. Review finished product external lab test results and product batch records per internal Product Release Standard Operating Procedure.
4. Quality Food Safety Manual & Trainings
a. Compile and standardize QA forms and procedures as per Nutricia standards (Danone PRP, FSSC22000).
b. Creation and implementation of sanitation programs as per Nutricia standards (Danone PRP, FSSC22000).
c. Maintain and retain quality documents per Danone document control and retention policy.
d. Perform periodic review of document versions versus the master quality document reference list.
e. Provide support to develop training documents & deliver content when required.
5. Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

4+ years in manufacturing quality and food safety experience (preferably in food, pharmaceutical and/or nutraceutical manufacturing environment).
• Bachelor's degree in science discipline, Food Science preferred.
