About the job:


We have a terrific opportunity in our Broomfield, Colorado office for a Sr. Operations Accountant.


  • Conduct month-end close functions including the development of month-end journal entries; reconciling related balance sheet accounts; month-end analysis and variance explanations; overseeing month-end inventories and inventory reserves, ensuring proper cut-off and reconciling variances; reviewing trial balance for accuracy; communicating significant or unusual business matters.
  • Assist with the development of new staff as required.
  • Provide complete, accurate and timely financial support to management including; developing and reporting of key performance measures for all aspects of the operations; providing pricing and production analysis as requested.
  • Proactively monitor, develop, document and implement policies, procedures and processes to effectively meet rapid growth and to ensure information being provided is relevant, accurate, timely, and in accordance with Company policy.
  • Assess internal controls and compliance in following company practices and procedures pertaining to setting standard costs, excess and obsolete inventory assessments and adjustments, production order variances, account reconciliations and other areas related to inventory and cost.
  • Develop and implement processes that improve accuracy, efficiencies and documentation related to cost accounting and inventory control.
  • Develop reports and provide analysis on part cost variances, manufacturing process costs, actual inventory activity vs. plan, surplus and obsolescence reserve, inventory valuation, WIP aging, cycle count results, Cost-of-Poor Quality, and other cost accounting and inventory control areas as assigned.
  • Verify monthly hedging activity, compile necessary support, and provide data to corporate and accounting team.
  • Provide cost accounting guidance and support to manufacturing, production planning, brand finance, purchasing and other departments.
  • Monitor and analyze inventory transactions for accurate costing and inventory quantities.
  • Manage the preparation and analysis of actual and estimated costed BOM's.
  • Support and prepare various analysis for internal and external auditors
  • Manage the annual standard setting process. This includes working with procurement to set Material, Ingredients and Packaging Standards (MIP), working with the manufacturing facilities to set annual conversion cost standards, determining financial impact of the standards roll and managing the year-end cost roll process.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies. Foster a culture that encourages the highest level of integrity and ethical behavior.
  • Other duties as assigned.


About you:


  • You will have a Bachelor Degree in Accounting
  • You will possess 4-6 years accounting experience
  • You will have either Public and/or general accounting experience
  • You will have strong knowledge and understanding of GAAP and accrual basis of accounting
  • You will have strong MS Excel knowledge
  • You will have experience working in a large ERP system such as SAP
  • You will possess excellent analytical and communication skills, both oral and written
  • You will have the ability to work well in a team environment while focusing on individual tasks and priorities
  • You will possess innovative problem solving skills and flexible mind-set
  • You are detail-oriented, highly organized and able to work independently
  • You are a self-starter, dependable and possess the ability to respond quickly and accurately on multiple priorities
  • You have the ability to identify issues/control weaknesses and develop and implement recommendations for resolution
  • You have the ability to develop and implement policies and procedures
