Vision of the role: Help develop the strategic vision for the planning process and how we continuously improve the overall process and understanding within the organization. Define/Develop what success looks like. Utilize expertise to support your cross-functional teams (demand planning, finance, trade, shopper marketing, etc) to improve connectivity, understanding, accuracy and consistency. Leverage influence with cross-functional partners to drive change across the organization and unlock our full potential.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Forecasting and Planning Accuracy
    • Drive visibility to plan accuracy and help identify issues within the process so that we improve over time. Help teams understand the importance of plan accuracy and its impact on the overall GPS process.
    • Cascade outcomes and key metrics to org based on overall unit KPIs, metrics (e.g., category specific metrics)
    • Ensure that organization is aware of best-practices and tools and ensure that sales support functions are connecting appropriately
    • Provide scorecarding updates on planning errors and AMPs compliance. Develop content and reinforce with the field. Enable visibility to issues and performance improvement over time.
    • Work with trade marketing to understand key compliance gaps and how we can support their initiatives in the planning process.
  • Support Internal Planning Reporting/Meeting Process
    • Build and maintain relationships with key cross-functional partners to drive processes and influence change.
    • Set and communicate clear objectives for the broader planning team and individual team members
    • Develop tools to maintain an accurate and dynamic consolidation process for reporting that support the content of the planning meetings.
    • Develop the decks that are utilized for the meeting(s) such that they support the broader global planning process in a consistent manner. Make certain that the Divisions and BUs adhere to the template and provide consistent data.
    • Identify and determine ways to provide the right balance between making the process more efficient/effective such that the right information is being provided without placing an undue burden on the various teams.
    • Develop scorecarding to determine if we are delivering on the metrics that were outlined by the Divisions (TDP targets, Merchandising, etc.)
    • Support the overall planning process by driving consistency in processes/templates. Identify opportunities to improve the overall process through new tools/templates/meetings.
  • Support Key Business Objectives
    • Understand customer business needs and build short and long-term strategies that support those customer goals while achieving company sales targets and financial expectations. 
    • Detect needs that will develop as the result of broader business decisions (i.e. National List Price increases, various corporate initiatives). How will planning support these processes and the implementation across the company?
    • Develop agendas and lead corporate customer strategy and planning calls (2X per month). 1-2 times annually coordinate in-person customer planning meetings (30+ people). Determine content and if other groups should be included (i.e. shopper marketing, finance ,etc.) depending on business needs at the time.

 

Qualifications

Ideal candidate will have:

  • 4 year college degree in Business or related field (Finance, etc.)
  • 4-6 years progressive experience in strategy/finance/sales at a CPG company
  • Field management and key account management experience is a plus
  • Excellent analytical skills and advanced knowledge of MS Excel necessary
  • Presentation development and strong communication skills.
  • Occasional travel
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve breakthrough results through the course of work
