Vision of the role:

Conduct BU and brand analytics to support Trade Marketing Manager in driving sustainable, profitable growth in BU.  Perform analysis to identify trade investment opportunities and enhancements, including ROI analysis of trade promotions.  Derive insights from analysis and use insights to shape the brand and portfolio stories.  Provide Trade Marketing organization with competitive analysis to ensure that everyone has a deep understanding of the competitive landscape.  Provide the business intelligence for given BU/products to the sales team to create and develop customer plans. Track various metrics that monitor execution of trade investment programs and brand KPIs.


Key responsibilities

  • Perform analysis to inform trade investment programs and brand/portfolio plans
    • Create brand pricing and promotion summary analysis to internal and external factors impacting pricing and promotion, such as portfolio strategy, market dynamics, competitors, and regulatory requirements to inform high-level promotion strategy
    • Work with central Sales Finance organization and PRGM organization to execute pre- and post-promotion evaluation to understand effectiveness of each event by customer (ROI), and learn how to reallocate investment to events with higher return on promotional investment and/or absolute NS (including in-market analysis of competitor promotions)
    • Perform cross-customer trade investment analysis to evaluate size and trend of trade investment compared with profitability by customer/channel and strategic customer prioritization in order to inform reallocation decisions
    • Convert company strategy and overall financial targets into net sales volume (NSV) and margin after conversion (MAC) margin targets by customer and brand
    • Run a comprehensive competitive analysis to provide the organization with context around what is happening in the market
    • Perform ad hoc analysis related to revenue growth management
  • Convert analytical findings into insights
    • Support marketing and Trade Marketing Manager in developing the brand/BU story by providing fact-based insights and data
    • Provide business intelligence for specific BU/products
    • Support the development of brand collateral and share with customer selling teams, so that they can tweak the story for the category/customer (deployed 2X/year)
  • Track execution and performance of trade investment programs
    • Evaluate trade efficiency (ROI) at the brand/business event level in conjunction with central Sales Finance
    • Calculate a standard and broad set of metrics across customers regularly (i.e. volume, revenue growth, profitability, price points, competitive landscape, etc.)
    • Track plan execution and make sure all programs are falling within the plan guidelines
    • Audit adherence to the customer promotion calendar
    • Track standard metrics across customers (i.e. volume, revenue growth, profitability, price points, competitive landscape, etc.) and intervene to adjust the promotion plan when the execution of the plan goes off course as necessary



Ideal candidate will have:

  • 4 year college degree in Business or related field
  • 0-2 years previous experience in sales or marketing experience within CPG industry
  • Analytical skills and ability to analyze large amounts of data
  • Highly proficient excel skills (Pivot Tables, v-lookups, macros)
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, including superior communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Occasional travel
