Danone North America is looking for a Plant Controller--Bridgeton in our Bridgeton, New Jersey manufacturing location.

The Plant Controller is responsible for managing the financial administration of the plant and delivering corporate requirements. This includes, but is not limited to:
 

  • Providing guidance and insight as the primary financial business partner to plant leadership
  • Delivering an accurate and timely month end accounting close
  • Ensuring proper reconciliations of plant balance sheet accounts
  • Managing the control environment for the manufacturing location activities
  • Preparation of meaningful financial reporting and analysis
  • Coordination and preparation of periodic forecast and annual budget
  • Oversight of plant financial team

This position reports directly to the Corporate Finance Director, Manufacturing with dotted-line responsibility to the Plant Manager, and manages one analyst.

 

Accounting/Control Environment:

  • Ensure plant policies and procedures are in place and consistent with corporate guidelines
  • Administer internal control procedures to provide reasonable assurance to management that transactions are properly authorized and recorded, that assets are properly controlled and accounted for and the business reputation and integrity of the Company are safeguarded\
  • Responsible for communicating and correcting any breakdowns in the control environment
  • Educate plant team on importance of an appropriate control environment

     

Reporting/Analysis:

  • Provide timely, accurate and meaningful reporting and analysis of results with the focus on delivering insights toward cost drivers within the business
  • Perform trend analysis and provide Operations information on potential financial risks or opportunities
  • Support Operations in the development and publication of financial Key Performance Indicators
  • Support ad hoc requests for cost estimates of new products/processes

Planning:

  • Responsible for managing the annual and monthly Rolling Forecast process for plant labor, overhead costs, material usage variances and inventory losses
  • Provide supplementary data (head count, volume, labor hours, departmental spending, etc.) to support budget preparation
  • Support periodic forecasting activities to re-align expectations based on trends and changes in the business outlook

 

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field required
  • MBA or CPA preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of plant accountant/controller experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience with standard cost accounting and variance analysis
  • ERP Systems experience (SAP preferred)
  • Prior experience on a plant leadership team strongly preferred
  • Ability to lead and influence
  • Ability to embrace and drive change
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Effective people management skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (especially MS Excel)
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, preferably Consumer Packaged Goods
  • Internal Control experience
